Hillary Clinton...

“Only a new president can renew the promise of America — the idea that if you work hard you can count on the health care, education, and retirement security that you need to raise your family. These are the basic values of America that are under attack from this administration every day,” [Hillary Clinton] said. here Alright, frankly, I am not a huge fan of politics. I don’t involve myself too often because it makes me sick....

Newness

A new year. 2007. I will be twenty years old this year. I should be retiring any time now. Hmmm… twenty. Four more iterations of similar time lapses and I’ll be all done. 2006 was a good year. I started attending one of the best colleges in the world. I even managed to perform satisfactorily at said college for the first quarter. Overall, I learned very much in many areas of life....

DV9000T Review

Well, I got my HP DV9000t laptop today. Decked out with everything important… 2GB RAM, 2Ghz Core 2 Duo, Webcam, 7200RPM HD, etc. It arrived about 5 days early… and I’m failry caught up with all of my work – so I decided I would write a review of this very sleek looking machine. I’ve decided this partly because I was looking for reviews when I was going to purchase it, and party because I like to type on the new keyboard… 😉...

Very tired...

For the past two weeks I have been writing papers. This appears as though it will be the case until the end of the quarter. The writing is intense, and I am tired. As for other news, I should have a new laptop in a few days. I am sending my sister my old one, and will be coaxing money out of my mother and step father over the next few months to cover the cost of the laptop....

Ouch! …

Two “C” papers, a late night math tutorial with a math midterm ensuing, and no dinner… and I am here… now. That was today – and the math midterm is tomorrow. I could go on, but I’d like to complain about these for a while. Well, actually, it may not be “complaining”… The two “C” papers – actually one was a C+ – are lingering from last week; that’s when I received the first C(+)....

One Month Down

Well, it is true – I’ve been in college one month now. How is life here at the UofC you ask… I’m still deciding. The classes are getting a little harder – Marx is much harder to read than Smith. I get two papers back in the next few days. Midterms are fast approaching – and as of right now, I’m a “B” student. Things could be worse, to be sure, but they could be better too....

Wonderful weather… insane schedule…

I’ve been at the University of Chicago for over a week now. Things are nice here. For the most part the people are fantastic (the class of 2010 in Talbot house especially). The weather is gorgeous. Classes started yesterday. Before I touch on the classes – I’d like to review orientation week. It was great. An architectural tour if Chicago by boat, navigating the city in one large group, standing on the 94th floor of the John Hancock Observatory, and enjoying the Museum of Science and Industry with only your entering class… those were a few of the formal highlights....

Dorm life… college life

Well, yesterday was my first day at college – and my first night in my dorm. It wasn’t bad. I was exhausted, and therefore not exceptionally sociable – but the day went well. I have my own private bathroom – which I can see right now is a wonderful thing. My room is equipped with a small but appreciated closet and a gorgeous view of various brick buildings. (In actuality the view leaves a lot to be desired…)...

Home-made tortillas…

Well, first, let me tell you something: my uncles are probably the cheapest individuals alive… even more cheap than me ( and, forgetting a few electronic splurges, I am exceptionally “cheap”). So, anyway, my uncles frequent a grocery store called ALDI. It is a very cheap, minimalistic (and cheap) place to shop. One of the things they buy there are frozen burritos… and at less than 30¢ a piece – they are not that bad....

Life in Illinois

I’ve now been on the farm in Illinois for a week. It has been hot – up until today. Soon I’ll be running into Chicago – I’ll write all about it. Life on a farm is different – just in the last week I’ve learned how to can corn, make jelly, harvest oats, and that slime in a pond means it’s healthy 😉 . I’ve gone swimming in the aforementioned pond, thrown around tons of hay bails, picked berries, and have been chased down by deer flies....
